First degree bridging Nursing

Duration: 7 semesters

The bridging bachelor studies are aimed at persons with nursing education. They provide an opportunity for nurses to improve their qualifications at each stage of professional practice. They are a proposal to supplement the competencies of certified nurses and enable them to gain higher education.

Mode: part-time:

  • Track A - 2-semester study or 1150 hours - for graduates of five-year medical high schools,
  • Track B - 3-semester studies or 2410 hours - for graduates of two-year post-secondary or post-secondary schools,
  • Track C - 2-semester studies or 1984 hours - for graduates of two-and-a-half-year post-secondary or post-secondary schools.

The graduates of the Nursing programme are prepared for independent professionals to practise and work in public and non-public health care institutions, including hospitals, basic health care institutions, nursing and care institutions, palliative and hospice care centres, and social care homes. In order to undertake work in education, graduates must specialise in teaching - in accordance with the standards of education preparing for the teaching profession. Graduates are prepared to undertake second-cycle studies.

Studying at the Faculty of Medicine provides graduates with general knowledge in the field of medical sciences and specific knowledge in the field of nursing. Graduates will gain skills: to use current knowledge to ensure safety and a high level of care; to provide services in the field of promoting, preserving health, and preventing diseases; to take holistic and individual care of the sick, the disabled, and the dying; to communicate with the environment in the workplace; to organise their own work; to cooperate in health care teams and to initiate and support community actions for health.
